There was one clear winner of the Dobcross Calendar photograph competition this year. For the first time the final selection was determined by public vote at the Village Fête and it was a photograph of our ‘Postie’, Steph Scholes, which attracted an overwhelming number of votes, making it by far the most popular picture out of all 400 that were submitted!

We can reveal that blonde Steph (21), has until now kept her modelling career on hold in favour of serving the village by providing a FIRST CLASS postal delivery service. However, she told the Dobcross Diary that she is delighted to be appearing in the 2011 calendar and now answers to the name of ‘Miss March’.

Richard Wallis (35), who took the winning photograph said, “I think people like the picture because it makes them smile. Steph is such a respected member of our community and perhaps I have managed to capture Steph’s character which is one of cheery helpfulness - in all weathers. By voting for my picture, I think the village is saying thank you to Steph and her colleagues for all their hard work, which so often goes over and above the call of duty.”

With Steph’s huge smile and the help of all the photographers, judges and sponsors, the 2011 Dobcross Calendar looks set toraise a record amount of money for village community groups and projects when they go on sale SOON.
